National Aquatics Center hosts thrilling youth swimming open

The National Aquatics Center in Beijing buzzed with excitement as it welcomed over 1,900 young athletes for the 2024 Water Cube Youth Swimming Open from May 18 to 19.

During the weekend, swimmers representing 69 swimming clubs and schools from across the country participated in a total of 140 single and relay events at the dual-Olympic venue, vying for top honors while also fostering new friendships.

More than 500 staff members, including referees, volunteers, and coaches from various clubs, actively contributed to the event's operations to ensure smooth execution.

This year's event featured further integration of digital technologies within the sporting competition. Ru Jiang, general manager of the National Aquatics Center's swimming subsidiary, said the venue introduced a self-developed mini-program on WeChat for the registration process. This innovative feature also enabled young swimmers and their parents to access real-time updates on the competition results, creating an enhanced and engaging experience for all involved.
